World Harmony Run
Finally after weeks of planning the day have arrived. Turnout for the Mass Run wasn't as great as anticipated, since around 5-6am lightning and thunder zoom past the horizon without reserve and shower was experienced. Fortunately in Macritchie Reservoir the weather was pretty good.
The event went off smoothly as planned with Ms Eunice Olsen(NMP) - Guest-Of-Honour- open the ceremony. Wow...she is beautiful....try to take snap shots of her with my sony camera, unfortunately don’t know why the setting seems to be off after lending it to my brother-in-law. Sian...so the pictures aren’t nice.
Myself take up the role of Team Captain for the Core Runners...:) We have 3 team of runners based on their 10km timing. The faster runners belong team A and wow...these are veteran group. They are fast, is an understatement. Damn Paisei to tell them repeatedly to slow down. I guess their walking pace, will be our comfortable pace....
This run was very interesting, 30km total, which goes to temple, mosque, community centre etc. It was an educational trip as well. Sukami have a good time taking photos of all the places we visited. We are well hydrated along the way with water and 100plus...which was very good. Some even offer ginger tea, mee goreng, food along the way. I even have to wear a headdress in the Shik temple, which was very interesting. Cant stop laughing looking at sgpork making a "red riding hood" kind of headdress....:)
Although we are schedule to run 10+km for everyone in this 30km relayed run, but most wanted to do it all the way. At the end, those that can do it, will run. Those that are tired will take the minibus. At the end i completed 30km.
The weather was HOT, but everyone on the run, have the endurance to push through, which itself was remarkable. Have to take my hat off to them, especially the slow runners. The road marshal did an excellent job. As a whole a very well run.
