Zero

Finally, break the duck on the run today! Still couldn't believe i have t0 wait till the weekend for this?

Alot of debate on the "best" time to fry the shao too (烧猪) ! Ended up i decide to start the run at 6am at Kallang(PA) site. Pick up too kua and reach the meeting point at 5:50am. Heeshen come shortly. Joanna/Piglet and Burnz get disorientated and was late. By the time we start our run it is 6:25 am leow!

We start our run in pretty good form. Everyone reach Esplanade toilet(first break point) in 26mins+ and proceed towards Shenton Way. Piglet and Joanna decide to U-Turn at Fullerton as Piglet need to rush back for work. Too tao as usual take the opportunity to slack! The 4 of us proceed onto Marina South.

It was a nice experience running during the early part of the morning, it provide an insight of someone else life(construction worker) that we seldom see. Example, a van providing free breakfast to the China workers by China Construction(along Esplanade). I can see the spirits of the worker when the van are unloading the food and the workers swarm over to collect their breakfast! Saw an air con bus, alighting loads of Indian workers along Shenton way. A whole convoy of lorry queuing by the road side waiting for their turn to load up the debris from a nearby construction site. I do not know why, but i am fascinated by this small "colourful" pages of life!

Marina portion is our typical CBD run route(9.5km). Everyone is still feeling strong when we reach Marina Jetty(2nd water break). There are a few cyclists in these early part of the morning. I didn't really take a look at the time, i feel should be around 1:05 hr when we reach the jetty.

We proceed towards the seafood joint of the Marina South. It is very quiet and peaceful as we run along. We spotted a group of folks setting the stage for some filming later on. 3rd break point is the at the Marina Park(vendor machine) where our cold isotonic drink is waiting(or suppose) to be! Alas the damn machine was dismantle! WTF, everyone morale was taken a slap with 2 steps backward. Anyway we still proceed to take a breather before we push on.

I push forward to look for vending machine whereas the rest of the dispirited runners slowly slog along. Manage to find one machine among row of restaurants nearby NTUC clubhouse! I brought 2 can of 100-plus whereas Fracis brought another 2 more. Burnz is struggling behind by now as his injury is coming back to haunt him. We walk quite a distance along Shenton way before we resume our run again. Burnz decide to call it for today whereas the rest of the too, push forward for the distance(27km) we are targeting on.

From this point onwards, it is OTOT. I pushed forward as i am feeling good. I don't think i ran too fast, but when i reach kim seng road(in front of ministry of manpower) and U-Turn, i was feeling stress and tired. Maybe entire week didn't do any run and it is showing now?

I cross over to Zouk and did the return leg. At this stage i can feel that i am struggling! I do not understand why this is so, it seems that my HR went up and i am like doing a tempo run! Questions start to float through my mind. Blood donation? Not enough running this week? I have to adopt the run/walk method from there onwards till the end! I was pretty surprised that things turn bad so quickly!

I decide to go across to 7-11 along riverwalk(boat quay) to grab a bottle of cold 100-plus to break the evil spell! A cold 100-plus should do the trick i hope. Wrong choice for today! 1) It is not cold, so so nia. 2) It cost $2! 3) I got a stitch after taking the water! 4) Still the same feeling as before 7-11 visit! 5) i feel a bitter taste in the mouth, feel like throwing up!

The situation has worsen after the visit to 7-11! No choice have to push on slower though. My lungs are feeling chuan. Calves are hurting as well. I haven't feel this for kind of feeling for quite a while now and i quite enjoy ya. Haha...no pain no gain concept? I must be crazy...:)

The sun is scorching down in full blast and i am still struggling. Slow and steadily(SAS) i believe i can pulled through! Come on, i been through worst! 400 Meters at a time. Wait why am i going at such short distance at a time? The chuan feeling will seize upon me when i start to run, i couldn't understand why. I try to listen to my pace, it is definitely not sub 5 min pace(or i have lost the sense of pacing again?). I remember running behind heeshen along Esplanade and we are roughly to be on similar pace until he took the toilet break(Esplanade). From afar when i look at him run a while back, along Boat Quay(he runs along Clark Quay) i am sure he is not running at flying speed!

No matter, i struggle to finish the 27km run in 3:25 hr(plus all the stops). Just before the kallang bridge i catch up with Burnz which walk back from Esplanade! Wei, how come i manage to catch up with him! Accordingly to him, he make a wrong turn somewhere and take a longer route. That must be a long walk back!

It is good to be back at Kallang. The place that i started all my runs. It has been a long time. I don't feel great at the end of the run(at least i dont feel like blackout!), nevertheless i am just glad to burst that Zero for this week!
