Simens Run 2008

It was bright daylight when the race started - 7:30am. Given the distance at 10km, i am not surprised. It has been more than a year ago that i last ran a 10km race. Given my current condition, this will be adequate.

A much quiet affair compare to KL Marathon. Nevertheless it is good to be back at Merdeka Square. This is the place where i did my first Marathon. I still have fond memories of the event. Hopefully i will be able to do another 42km sometime in the future.

Exactly 7:30am, the race started. I take it slowly and intend to built up the tempo slowly. Anyway, can't run that fast due to human traffic. The route seems familiar. Quite a fair bit of undulating slopes throughout. Remind of GE 30km route. Hmm....according to Ben, only the first part has "humps". Somehow i think about 5-7km is roller coaster.

Breathing was decent for 10km race. Last week 12km run, more or less already get the rhythm constant. I didn't bring Garmin this round(loan to Francis)since i should be able to gauge my effort pretty well.

First 5km is almost 30mins based on the distance marker. I meet up with this lady runner, not really that "fit" but was going at a pace pretty similar to mine. I keep track of the movement and "draft" along.

Reached 7km mark at 40mins. Was feeling tired, but still have fuel left in the tank. Decide to push side by side with the lady runner. Slowly overtook her and finish in front of her. Reach end point at 50mins 15sec(estimated) as i have to stop 20 meters before the end point to queue up for the finisher stuff.

I couldn't have finished last 3km in 10 mins! The distance must be way short! Well, nothing much i can do. A good run and event nevertheless. :)

According to other source the distance is 8km+.
