National Day

Happy 40th National Day Singapore

Today is our National Day. So nice a break from work on a Tuesday.

Wake up early and hit MR again. Reach there by 7am, this time round only myself. Wanted to go East Coast for a run, alas no motivation and no one accompany me...nevermind, MR will do.

Today do the "normal" actual 10km route(start from Zig Zag Bridge), normally i start via the Canoing route first. Anyway, today wanna try a new approach and see the difference.

The run was tough in the beginning, the legs are heavy and i am panting. Reach the 2.4km mark coming close to 13mins, hit right and was thinking, old boy going to be a long run ahead. Lcuky i didnt go East Coast and do 20km. After the wooden blanks, it was slightly upslope all the way to the ranger station, didnt realised it until you do the reverse and feel the difference. What a relief, sighting the ranger station. Reach there around 33mins+.

Took a few slips of water and hit out slowly, as the slope welcoming you to the top is pretty long. On the return route after the sharp right turn, it was almost a downward slope from there onwards. It was a relief for me. A runner overtook me and i realised that actually i can open up and give chase(abit lah). It was a good return leg, finish the run at the toilet a few seconds after 1hr. I keep thinking, despite the heavy legs in the beginning and the slope, it was a good time compare to starting from the other way. I think based on the timing, it is easily to run this route, compare to the normal way i take.

Should i take this route from now onwards? Nan...i doubt so...let see how it goes lah...

the route that u are doing is easier compare to the opposite route. cos if u r going the route that u r going the ending part is mainly down slopes, only the beggining stage is a little tough due to short and up slopes.

if u go the opposite way, it is tougher in the beginning, cos there's alot of upslopes and at the end there's a gradual downslope near the ranger and those little up and down slope.

anyway, if u blur, to summarise, from my personal point of view, the route that u are taking is easier compare to the opposite route.

i timed myself for both route, my timing is better for the route that u r taking compare to the opposite. that's just my personal experience.

maybe for u different, the tougher the route the faster u run! hehe :)

Thanks for the confirmation that the route i took is easier than the reverse way. I will try out both routes from time to time to have some freshness.

I wanna try different route in MR but do not know the way. Maybe next time you can show me the way.
