Recover path
MR time trial was about 1 month ago. That is how long i have not run since...4 weeks. Although i try to maintain my fitness through - swim, bike, gym sessions. I don't think it is sufficient. I was taking it relax and with off season mentality plus feasting(at times), i have put on 2-3kg(since 6 weeks ago when i average around 60.5-62kg).
I have forced myself to stop running(any attempt) for the last 2 weeks and see whether i can do good with the injury. I did treadmill on last thursday(2omins), and yesterday(monday) 35mins. Both sessions, i feel okay, but does have some feeling on the injury portion at the end of the session. Am i ready to hit the road? I dont know.
Today is Hari Raya Haji - A day of celebration to our Muslim Friends.
Taking this opportunity, i went to Kallang and did a jog of 8km to and fro Esplanade. It was a rain run(it has been raining for the last few weeks). It was drizzle when i start off & progressively got heavier. Nevertheless i pressed on, even the mind starts to tell you to stop and rest. That is something i like about running outdoor, the temptation isnt as great as running in the gym or tracks. Once you started off, you have to finish it.
It was a tough run for me, the long layoff does take its effect. I was struggling, but not too siong, but definitely the stamina isnt back to where it used to be. Heartrate for a LSD pace is like 10km pace. Abit out of breath and i have to breath through the mouth. I have quite a number to walk breaks(trying to take a breather from the rain), when i bypass flyover and shelter. Completed 8km in 51mins+
I put on a knee guard on my left ankle and hope that it will take the stress off. I dont know whether that helps or not? The last time i put it on about 7 weeks back it didnt help to relieve the injury. Anyway the tightness of the knee guard, force the leg to use another portion of the muscles. The only aching i feel is the stress on that portion of the muscle and the mind keep focusing on there. During the run, i swore i feel some soreness from the injure muscle, but i ignore it and keep running forward. At the end of the run, apart from breathlessness, my legs seem fine. A few hours later i am still feeling okay. Hopefully that is a good sign for my attempt to comeback.
