North to East Run
Another run with sgrunners, from North Point to Bedok Jetty(East Coast)
According to Jamessoh the distance is 32km. Another run from West to East will start from Boon Lay mrt to Bedok Jetty(East Coast) is about 33km. We gonna start off at midnight on Saturday from both end of Singapore.
Work up on Saturday morning, the calves on both legs still ache. The pain on the right side are slightly more serious than the other. I am still having reservation about the run, as i worry about aggravating the calf.
I meet up with North Team at North Point at 11:50pm. We have Jamessoh, Fatty Bom Bom, Spyfish, Yulan, Dasher, Weishan, Cookie and Sportventurer. Cookie was late(should have ask him to buy ice cream for everyone).
We start off around 12:20am. SV and myself tailed off at the back as cookie leads the team forward. The pace is abit too fast 4 me as i stayed a distance behind running at my pace. It was a long straight run towards Ang Mo Kio via Lentor Avenue. The first water point is at Mobil Petrol station. I was looking forward to it, cold drink await. Well you can imagine the dissapointment when i realised the Petrol kiosk is offline for renovation, to pass on the baton to Cheers
No choice we make our way towards Upper Thomson Road Mobil Station(2nd water point). FBB and SV are tailing off from there onwards as the rest group together and move forward. FBB was having problem with his ITB and couldnt run fast and Sv accompany him behind. I finally get my cold isotonic drink at Mobil.
3rd water point is at Shell, along Novena church. We run at a good pace towards Novena with fbb and sv tailing behind. We took a breather there. James have been in constant contact with Kelly waiting at Far East Plaza and know that the west is behind schedule. Since being the case, we decided to "walk" from Novena Square to Newton circle. There onwards, we start our run towards Fast East as we don't want to cool down too much.
We met up with Kelly before 3am. Took a break about 15mins while waiting for the westsiders. I am feeling ok. The time taking to reach Fast East was pretty long i would say for 16km(estimated). Anyway, it was a fun run, just enjoy the atmosphere.
We finally merry up with the group from the West at CK Tang. We took photos and have lots of catching up like old friends. From the West, we have Imd, Tiwazz, Shobido, Andy, Kickjazz, Charlotte, Cosmic wind, bee, cheow, cfred84,burnz and roentgen.
We stop at Lucky Plaza for ice cream. Some hungry auntie wanna eat what to do, carry a handbag and run as well. mechiam like grocery shopping like that. Remind me of JP Morgan Run 2 years back.
Knowing we have runners of different background, i decided to inform the 2 IC of the groups that there is going to be split to 2 group and merry up at Bedok Jetty later. After Lucky Plaza break, we split out to 2 groups.
Cookie(Kena blame) leads the breakaway group with cheow and shobido. Myself, weishan, dasher, yulan, andy, cfred and burnz following closely behind. We move on pretty strong along Orchard Road to Suntec before we headed towards Nicoll Highway.
From there onwards we lost burnz around stadium area(i didnt realised ) as we surge forward. My mistake as i should keep track on the number of runners. Fortunately he stay back to wait for the 2nd group and proceed towards with them.
We make a few pitt stops to catch our breath along certain area: turning point towards Ford Road, SPC petrol, Ford Road(East Coast Toilet), Macdonald. The pace was increased as we surge forward towards the Bedok Jetty. I almost faint for the 2nd time when the mobil station(again under renovation ), lucky SPC was next door. We took our last cold drink stop
Weishan have a fall and Yulan seems to have aggravate her knee injury along these surging runs.
We decided to Reorg at the New watersport lagoon and walk towards Bedok Jetty as we don't want to leave anyone behind. Saw Sotong trying to start his engine around East Coast Food Centre heading towards Ford road. We reach Bedok Jetty around 5:32am.
Voilet and Rain are there awaiting us. We stretch and chit chat at the Jetty waiting for the 2nd group to arrived abt 40mins later.
It was a good run with over 20 runners taking part. Thanks to IMD for organise the run and James for his support from the Northside. Kelly as usual has gone all out to be our camerwomen.
Currently my calves still hurts, i think not much additional damage done over the run. I will know it when i wake up tomorrow.
Thanks to everyone, i have a good run.
