Mt Kinabalu Recee Trip - 20 July 06

The trip starts today. Have taken the whole day leave even though the flight is at 1pm+. Woke up early went to buy breakfast and send pheck leng to MRT before coming back home to rest.

Went to Serangoon to meet David. Anthony took a cab from his place, pick us up and proceed to Airport. We arrvied at 10:40am, earlier than the schedule 11am. Meet the rest of the Mt KK team, except Sim(he is hospitalised). Lingram, Yussof, Hamidah and Carmen joined us for the trip. Clavin from Campers Corner came over to send us off. After done up the paperworks, we split to have our own meals from meeting at the depature gate. We went over to the staff canteen for makan. IMD(Ben) joined us there as he came specially to send us off.

This is my first time travelling to East Malaysia and little did i know i am going to touch ground at two states. Since the flight transit in Kuching before reaching Kota Kinabalu. It was an hour+ to Kuching transit for about 30mins before another 1 hour+ to Kota Kinabalu.

The airport in Kuching is very simple, Kota Kinabalu is much better. I guess Sabah is more developed than Sarawark. Based on the newspaper articles in their respective states, it seems to say likewise.

We meet up with the local representative of the tour agency at the airport, whereby we are transport onto a coach for a 2hrs journey to our hotel(Rose cabin). We took a stop in K Kinabalu town for a quick top up at a local supermarket on the tibits and other stuffs as it is a jungle up there and not much is available.

By the time, we reach the foot of Mt Kinabalu or rather near to the headquarter of Mt Kinabalu where we are staying for the next few nights it was already 8pm. Ronnie came on his own and reach Kt Kinabalu in the morning and stay in the cabin waiting for us the entire day. We have our dinner, quick briefing on the programs ahead and turn in early for the night. Rose Cabin is a homely affair motel i guess, not to my normal expectation.



It wasn't a good night sleep for me with Roland. It was like hail storm to me in the evening. Looks like strong winds and rained throughout the night.
