LSD - NYC

Time is running out soon for LSD for New York Marathon. To be exact it has about 21 days left.

Due to Mount Kinabalu event, i didn't get to prepare properly for NYC event. At least that is what i felt. Last month i did 30km in MR in preparation for both Mt KK and NYC event. Today i managed to do a 33km+ in slightly under 4hr for the run.

Meet Francis, Too buay & Too kia at Kallang at 5:30am. We started the run with chitchat and laughter along the way. The weather was good, no haze(fortunately as it get worsen around noon onwards).

We proceed to Esplanade, took a water break(at the toilet), before i push on towards next check point at Marina Ferry point. The pace was relaxt, we take our time and soak in the accompany. We push on through the seafood joints before reaching on our 3rd water break inside Marina. The vendoring machine ran out of 100 plus, and we have to settle for another cold isotonic drinks.

I lead most of the way from there onwards, the rest tag behind as i show them the way. Francis and Too Buay starts to find mini objectives to motivate ourself as we have towards our 4th break point at Merlion(One Fullerton) traffic lights. We reach there pretty okay. I reckon we have did 15km by then.

Off we go towards Clark Quay and heading towards Kim Seng. We bypass the "water" tree and meet some MR runners(doing their ninja). Everybody is still in good shape as we reach our 2/3 mark at Kim Seng.

After this junction, it is OTOT. Apart from myself, everybody head back to Esplanade and proceed back to Kallang with water break at the toilet(where we have our first water point). Myself require to do additional mileage decide to do additional loops from Merlion to Kim Seng and back(another 5km+).

After U-Turn for the additional loop, i found myself tired. I find it strange why this is so, as i should be able to last longer than that. Anyway, i do with more walk(water) break to give myself more time to rest the tired body. Slowly and steady i finished the loop and proceed back to Kallang. A bit struggling, but i managed to reach the end slightly before 4hrs.

It is not the timing that is disturbing, it is more on how i feel during and on the last portion of the run that raised some concern. I should be able to much better than that. Not enough mileage? Or it could be the blood donation, 10 days ago?(Just thought of this)

Anway, i think i can still afford another 30K next week which is about 14 days before D-Day in NYC. If my body feel okay, i will do another run, if not just have to rest.

As a whole, glad that i put this mileage behind.
