Mount Kinabalu Climbathon - Day 1 (30 Sept)

Have a good night sleep, despite the twisting and turning half the night. Stiff neck developed as a result of hard pillow, midway sleep without it. Compare to the last round in July this is definitely a good night for me. Let hope I have similiar night tomorrow. Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Finally pull myself up at 5am, meet the rest of the teamates downstairs at 5:15am.

The bus leave at 5:20am to the event holding area. 5mins later we have arrived at the location. We waited till 6am before we took the bus to the start point as it is cold to wait there. Saw a lot of elite runners which is pretty cool. It took a few photos of them by the side, shy lah don't dare to approach them.

A lot of runners about 200 are there waiting for the start.

It was a cool day and wind condition is good. Àlot of excitement in the air.

At 6:58am, our group inclusive of Yulan, david, Anthony, ronnie and Roland flag off according to my watch. Yulan chiong at the start to spearhead the rest of the team. Cool. Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The rest of the team: timothy, heeshen, sim and myself did a warm up run from the start point to Timpohon Gate. I felt hard to breath even after 100meters, which is abit scary! I wasn't going fast but I feel chuan. Took a slip of water and felt the throat is very cold! Maybe I still need more time to acclimatise. Heesen felt the same way as I do as well. Hope the rest of those folks are feeling better. We did a 4km jog back to the end point and get ourself familiar with the landmark for tomorrow event.

Went back to the cabin for a bath before heading back to the end point of the race for breakfast.

Stay at the end point waiting for the first person to arrive back in 3:10hr in men veteran and lady(Anna) 15sec behind.

David, yulan & Anthony reach the summit. Yulan and David cross the finishing line on 5:37hrs holding hands. What a pity. Anthony finished with 6:50hr and didn't meet the cutoff time. Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Ronnie & Roland reach 7.5km and make u-turn and finish within 6:30hr though didn't complete the event.
