Journey to Hong Kong
Woke up at 7:15am. Don’t feel like waking up. I was deliberating on whether to do a run this morning last night. But I don’t wish to do that due to concern about getting my running clothes wet and not able to dry in time for Friday morning run. In fact, I would have swim if Sintra have a pool. Alas it didn’t have….i guess slack lah…:)
Left the hotel at 8:15am and walk around Senado area looking for breakfast. Walk and walk and ended up in a lowdown authentic restaurant. It is full of elder folks in the restaurant. The atmosphere isn’t in the “best” appearance. Cockroaches spotted on the floor etc! Haha…..very local I guess. We have a hard time explaining to the waitress what we want. Nevertheless the food taste good…:)
We walk over to St Paul to buy some local tidbits before heading back to hotel. After check out we took the free shuttle to the ferry terminal for boarding onto a Jetboat to Hong Kong(Kowloon).
The jetboat is similar to one that runs between Singapore and Batam. In fact the ship is built by a Singapore company, after spotting the address of the boat layout on the walls on the boat. There are staff manning food/drink counter on the boat. The journey is okay, though i develop a stiff neck and it took about 1hr+.
We arrived in Hong Kong around 1:30pm amid some light rains. We took a cab to YMCA(Salisbury). The weather isn't cold here, I feel comfortable.
We proceed to visit THE PEAK. We spent about 4 hours there. The tram uphill is very steep. The scene is pretty good, showing many parts of the island. We took quite a few photos and visited the wax museum. Some of the figures look real, some aren’t. We have dinner at Baba Gump and waited for the night falls to watch the skyline. The top view at night is very nice and pretty winding as well.
We descend slightly near to 8pm and take a short walk towards Lan Kwai Fong similar to Clark Quay over here. The place is packed with foreigners in black business suit! Mecham like crow gathering! Took a short walk and proceed to take a MTR to Mong Kok.
Reach Ladies street. The place is a long street similar to Chinatown in Malaysia. There are 3-4 portions that make up the street. Walk 1 portion of the street will be sufficient to gauge what is coming up at the other portions. Pheck Leng and myself stay there until 10:30pm, before we decided to head back to Hotel while HC and Bing decide to continue their shopping spree.
It was a long day, pretty tired. What is holiday? Shop till you drop? Wake up early and enjoy until Midnight? Maximum the time spent will on holiday? It is more tiring while holiday then working! Agree?
