Sgrunners - MR Night Run

Introduction - History of Night Run

The idea of starting a run in the evening in MR started early last year or is it in 2005! It was long time ago....and finally we get the opportunity to put it to practise.

I had a run about a month or so back in the early morning and try out running in the darkness with torch light. I find it doable and thus start to find an opportunity to do this night run. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

When Vesak day run come along, i jump onto it. Thanks to the support from other runners, we have just completed the run. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Body - Night Run

It was 7:10pm when i reached MR. The carpark was full of runners and dragonboat students. Not much different from day time except the darkness.

It was a little difficult to wear the shoe as the wound on my left leg make "stinging" sensation to movement. I hope this will not hinder our progress later. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

We start off closed to 8pm with Tiwazz, Ronnie, Bee, Charlotte, Jamesoh, thelonelyrunner and littletigger.

I took the lead to bring everyone into the darkness. It was not that errie compare to the last time i ran with Kelly. This time i have someone keep pestering me to sing! Even ask me to sing Malikita! Wow pah....don't know from what era is that? Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I like the quietness of the night, listen to the sounds that the insects and animals make in the wild. It sort of bring me back to my childhood days, where i ran barefoot around the house, and around the kampung. It was carefree then. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Taking the lead have its advantage and disadvantage. You ran in front, you do not know what the hell is out there? Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Maybe a snake goes across the path?(not that i have not seem before!), or some animals(iguna having dinner?) and you accidentally step on it! There is cobweb that you have to bash through. Also keep looking back, make sure that everybody is intact! The one thing good about running in front, is that you can stage an ambush and wait for that innocent victim to "walk" past and scare the SHIT out of it! We saw fireflies..a few of it at different locations. A small little thing can bring back memories isn't? I can still remember i went over to Pulau Selangor(abt 1 hr drive from KL) to see the fireflies. There are so many of them, lighted up a "Christmas" tree. The small speed boat that bring us very close to the mangroves swarm/tree make it really nice. Not forgetting the delicious seafood soup, served in a pineapple at nearby "kampung" restaurant. Those are the days whereby no workout, just eat and enjoy life! Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

James was very good in entertaining us with his vocal power. The only concern is that Sukaimi might not be able to appreciate. As for the rest of us, it is like humming along, since most of us do not know the lyrics...hehe.... Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

We did alot of walking due to someone legs CMI(dot.dot.dot.). Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Anyway, it is pretty good as well as we spent more time in the darkness. It is fun running in the dark, especially if you switched off the light and rely on moon light. Alas there is always someone with a power torch behind that spoilt the enjoyment.... We did a climb to the treetop! The scene is very different from the day time. The climb up the steep slopes in darkness make me appreciate the gradient. It is really nice to do hill intervals there. Maybe 1 day, i will revisit it for my training runs. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Top of the Jelutong tower is very nice. It will be nice to be alone up there in dark! Quiet, peaceful, windy. I really hope i can lie there for a while to enjoy the surrounding. Aiyah, can't do that since someone keep mentioning about hunger and food! Next time, bu da ta chu men! Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

It was a long journey for 10km! It took us 2:30 hr to complete the loop.

Sorry hor, 100-plus is not COLD!

Conclusion - Night Run

It was a good trip. I enjoy the accompany, chit chat and "suaning" that come as a "package"....It is fun seeing everybody take a "GO" at each other in fun spirits.

Thanks to everyone that grace the occasions, i hope you enjoy the run as much as myself.

Special mention to 2 individual that keep "whacking" at me from the start! One, the one that is very scare of the dark! 2nd, the one that want to Rollerblade at MR! Thank you hor, the night will not be complete without both of you. Till next time, you better watch your back! Makali will come and grab u!

Till next time, we will try again...
