Pearl Izumi - 12K
Event: Pearl Izumi Pure Run Series 2008 - 12K
Date: 29 June 08
Distance: 12k
Time: 7:30am/7:40am(Ladies/Men)
Venue: Bedok Town Park
This is first of the 3 races by Pearl Izumi, organised by Key Point International/SAFRA Toa Payoh.
I have no vested interested given my current condition, but since Terrence is outstation, i gladly take over. How tough can a 12km? The most i walk..ok...not so glam, but what to do?
Reach start point before 7am with quite a number of familiar faces, meet up with so many SAFRA runners in this event. This is going to be fast and furious later! I heard for men there is 180, i target at least a 179 position!
Almost on the dote(7:40am), the race start. As usual i started from behind and slowly move around. I was running between 5:40-6min pace. Breathing was okay, HR wise hover around 140+. At times i wanna chiong, but i have to hold back as the distance is quite a distance to the end.
Slowly i pick up the front runners one at a time. The route wasn't really that great, inside the park, how good can it be right? The Marshall did a good job as a whole and i manage to hold my pace pretty good through.
Some slopes here and there. Bridges(few of them) to cross. It is okay lah...walk across bridges when it reached.
Two water point later, sensing the ending is near and breathing and HR still report favourable decide to push the pace slightly .
After 1:07hr i manage to cross the finishing line. I felt pretty good, i still have gas left in the tank. I think i just wanna be conservative.
Distance according to my watch is 11:39km, not 12km. I guess for the distance i did just nice at 6min/km pace. Given the condition that is pretty good.
Have drinks, chit chatting with quite a few of everyone. To those from SAFRA, thanks for your concern i am doing pretty okay at this moment, trying to regain my fitness. Will join you for training in the future, when i am ready.
A good run. Thanks Terrence, passing back the Bib to you. I am going Ninja...:)
