Brick-ended

Saturday(26 June 09). I was awoke by 3am and lazy around until alarm went off at 3:30am. I am ready for part 1 of the brick training this weekend.

I reached MR at 4:25am. The rest of the folks came late and we started off our bike at 4:55am. That is not really a good start! Must instill discipline!

The route read: upper thomson road, mandai road, bukit timah road, lornie road and back to MR. Estimate 40km.

I took 45mins to reach the Shell station along Mandai Road. Wait for a "long" while before heading out at almost 6am.

It was a decent training pace, as i am lagging behind all the while. It should be the case! I am on a MTB!

Body feeling fine when i reached the end of the bike. Time checked 6:43am. We rested for a while, before we proceed with additional members for the run portion.

Today menu for the run is 15km in MR.

I don't know how the body will react after the bike. It has been an awful long time i did a brick session! Started off slowly(as usual) and slowly go into the greens. It took 26mins to come out of the green(3.5km), which is a decent timing. I was feeling fine, no sign of fatigue or struggling.

As usual we took a long walk break to the ranger station before we proceed to do rifle range route.

Fellow cyclists abit weak in the mind this morning, wanna U-turn early. Damn it! Fortunately the goodness of them won over the day and they proceed to run to the ammo dump.

We took a short cut and head back to the end point. Distance estimated 13km. 2:08hr.

I felt strong throughout the run, no sign of struggling. Just a decent pace run. I am surprise that i can manage it! I was thinking i am going to struggle big time this morning, and it turn out different. Cool!

I am getting to love brick. :)

Sunday(27 June 09). Woke up at 5am+ this morning. Body feel okay, no ache from yesterday workout. Cool. This morning another session of bike plan - 1km openwater swim + 6km run in ECP.

Reached F2 at 6:40am. It was a late start this morning, as swimming better to have some light. Anyway, short workout this morning, so don't need to come early.

Few of us went into the slimmy water! Ok, the feet feel is yucky! Shall go and get myself a booties!

It was a relax swim, alot of stop while watching over "other back". It was a short 800meters swim i reckon as the tide are low and the number of fishing lines shortening the swim course.

Wash up and continue with the run. Leg feeling okay, breathing is fine except the pace is pretty slow. Again i am left running behind everyone. Damn...what happen to the pace! Nevermind, just slowly move along.

It become pretty mechanic when we reached Burger King. We rested for about 10mins there, chit chatting. I was totally cool down. Maybe on the return leg i could run must fast? Keke...

The pace remain slow despite putting more effort and a good "rest"! Damn! Sigh.....

We hit the wall literally with 2 groups of event walkathon. Damn....

Out of the blue, i felt liberated - can run faster and without putting in effort. Wah! Long time don't have this kind of feeling! About a km, did a quick run back to F2. Hmm.....what actually happened?

Ended up at Red Star for a "well deserved" makan after a weekend brick aka Brick-ended
