Woodcutter Trail

As we progress in preparation for NorthFace challenge, this leads us into Woodcutter Trail.

This trail is used intensively by the army for their training within Pierce/Mandai area. Without proper guide, it will be a challenge to venture into, especially so when certain part is closer to the live firing range zone. Today we are fortunate to be lead by Dominic(aka newsboy), Pwlee and Kayano into the much anticipated trail.

We started off from Upper Pierce toilet this morning and run along old upper thomson road turn left into upper pierce reservoir gate. Wait for a while to reorg for the entire team to assemble. 18 of us cut into the forest about 400 meters from the gate into the trail.

We have run in MR, Bukit Timah, Zheng Hua area. Woodcutter trail is another kind of terrain. The path are narrow, water obstacle, tricky roots and hanging branches are litter everywhere. Feel like a jungle that is for the exploring of Army personnel rather than runners. I rather be in army gear(in green) rather than singlet, tight and running shoes(trail running) in this kind of terrain.

The trail is about 5km long. At the exit is track 15 of the bukit timah mountain bike trail(chestnut avenue). It does look familiar to me when we exited. Only later that i realised we ran pass this route 2 weeks back. :(

We are back at Zheng Hua "entrance" in our familiar ground. From then onwards the run becomes pretty straight forward. Not much start stop. Straight forward running up/down the slopes. It is abit of stretch for me, but i think i hold myself pretty well.

Ran past the pipeline, rifle range, MR, ranger station, SICC, back to upper pierce toilet. Total distance 18km, took us almost 3 hours. I am glad i make it back. :)

Thanks to the Dominic(looks like a 3:30hr runner), Pwlee and Kayano for leading us today. It has been a good run.

Pictures are a bit blur at times. Haven't been using the camera for quite some time, i guess the settings are off and the battery is weak. :(
