Part 1 - 13th Oct 07

Out of nowhere, I dread of weekend. That's bad! The last time i face this was kind of feeling is way back whereby i start to train for my first 42km. It was plain mental, not to mention about the physical stress. Waking up early or after office hours, clocking mileage for LSD. It was just ME. The motivation was waning, distance wasn't great and i had to find excuse not to run!

Similarly, LSD on bike i am facing same kind of feeling/environment. It is like history repeating itself. It is very bad. What can i do? I have folks that jio me to cycle together. But i don't dare to. I am way too slow. Who want to ride with someone that clock average 20-22km/hr! It is wasting their training effort, slowing them down and i don't want to do that. A few week back piglet was cycling with 2 friends whereby i puncture my tire on coastal road, she mention her friend is on cannondale MTB and is doing 28km/hr. It was very demoralising to hear that. Me, 22km/hr, sigh.

One reason, is the restriction that sweetheart has imposed on myself. I am not allow to purchase my own bike. Without a proper road/tri bike, i can't train properly and borrowing a MTB isn't an ideal case.

Another reason, is that i do not wish to borrow a road/tri bike from friends or kaki. I know bike to them is as precious as car. Who want to loan you his car for training? Week in week out moreover!

I am frustrated to say the least. I don't like the situation. What can i do? Every household has its own problem. Sigh.

Cheechongfan, ba kwa, babytoo, babyboy too, ms piggy, too tao, seo too & too buay ran from kallang this morning. 9 of us start the run, 10 of us arrived at the end! The last one is who?

It was a run that was a bit scary for me as both my kneecaps shown signs of imminent injury. Alas i only have 1 kneeguard with me so i can only support one of the knee! Sigh....i hope not much damage to the other knee!

Breathing is okay, legs are feeling good, except for the kneecaps. I enjoy the run nevertheless , good accompany and pace. Completed 34.2km(based on Ba Kwa footpad) or 35km(seo too footpad) in 4:19hr.

Tao knee seems CMI and need some special treatment. If only she can stop doing racket game during weekdays which are bound to have impact on the knee!

Babyboy too tummy isn't doing good so didn't run with us much.

Seo too, our resident commando got kill during the 500meters++ by ba kwa. Need more training.

The rest did pretty okay.

Till next week, enjoy your weekends.

P/S: The 10th person is prokblood.

Kallang Barbecue Run

Good to be back at Kallang once again. It has been a long time. I miss running at this part of the town. A flat route, but bring back lots of memories.

Start off at 6am with Ba Kwa, Babyboy Too, Baby Too and Porkblood. It is suppose to be a run wtih 22/27/34km in mind.

It was a slow run. We keep close and chit chat along the way. The timing was pretty slow, but nevertheless it is fine with me as long as everyone have a good time and we can still clock our mileage.

We head to Esplanade, Marina South, [Clarke Quay + Boat Quay] x 2 , Esplanade and Kallang.

Baby Too and PorkBlood did the 22km route. Babyboy Too complete the 27km+3km route. Ba Kwa and Xiao Zhu finished the 34km route.

At the end of the run, according to Ba Kwa's footpod, the distance is 32.6km. The distance is ok, we hit around the target i have in mind. Cool Hot, Hot weather to run this morning!

The run took me 4:36hr with all the break times. It was okay. This kind of 4-5 hours run is good to built up the endurance. Train our Hot weather resistance as well - 5 Barbecue Too !

After a long wash up, we headed over for our favourite Sng Buay Zui! Even Baby Too is hooked by it, after drinking it for the first time :p

A good run everyone. Till we meet again - 5am(next week)

2 Star Certification

Last day of 2 STAR course. The important agenda is expedition and skill assessment.

Expedition is a good 6km. I realised that paddle with some speed are as good as biking! The breeze is so nice in the water, much safer than biking on the road! The drawback is the hot weather. It can be very stuffy at times! So many people like water sports, i guess there must be some goodness in it that some of us did not appreciate.

It was an hour journey for 6km a to/fro to Merlion. It is nice to have another approach to Merlion via Sea! Get to see so many new stuff by the coastline that you will not notice if by foot. Sometime, a step back to enjoy the surrounding that was missed during the hassle of daily life. Is just an enjoyable experience.

The skill assessments are pretty straight forward. It was a brief to go through the test. The only concern i have is to go bottom up underwater for 10 seconds. Just not nature to go underwater in this way. Must do more practise if i need to get comfortable.

I didn't get to practise Eskimo row! Sigh....

I realise that i am okay with water sports. Don't mind getting barbecue. The most important is the cost must be affordable!

Most probable i will try a few expeditions in the future, decide on 3 STAR later.
