East Coast 2nd Sgrunners Gathering

I was "drag" to East Coast? Well....it's suppose to be my rest day after 6 days of continue physically activities. The lure of large group of runners gathering for 1 common purpose is too great to ignore.

Date: 9 Oct 05
Venue: Macdonald(East Coast)
Time: 7:30am

Pheck Leng do not have any tuition in the morning, so i get her to wake up early to go for a morning "sleep" by the seaside. Lying on the beach with her walkman, reading her storybook and enjoying the breeze and sound of the sea. Isn't that appealing? The only complains from her, why is it have to be damn early. She don't even woke up this early for work!!! What can i say? Image hosted by Photobucket.com

We reached East Coast at 7:05am carpark and some of the sgrunners have gathered. I bring Pheck Leng and settle her down at the beach first before i come back to the car and dressed up for the run.

I am wearing my newly purchase "raceready LD" shorts and sgrunner T-shirt for the first time. Gonna see how it goes. Seeing the large group gathering mass, i took my camera and HP and meet up with the rest. It is until later at the actual meeting point (behind coffee bean) that i forget to bring along my HRM and watch !!! Alas lazy to pick it up at the car and run without it. Silly me.

I did a 27km run yesterday and don't intend to do any long run today. I should be good for a 10km run. Should i push further, time/space will tell. Let see.

I went around taking photos of various folks and get to know and get introduce to new sgrunners. I believe we have over 30 folks gathered for this occasion. This is a very good responses. We ought to have this king of gathering often to catch up. Unfortunately our hero for 168km...Commando is missing, i heard due to oversea assignment. Alas commando appearance is like gem, only appear when you least expecting him. I believe any long distance competition events, we should be able to catch a glimpse of him. You know lah...commando, camouflage still damn skilful, now you see, now you dont.

We start off just slightly after 7:30am. We run towards Ford Run. It was a mass run with so many folks, unlike in the army, everyone have to be running on the right steps. This time round we just run with few informal groups chitchatting along the way. Yeah lah...RSM(brokie) didnt do her job, lousy RSM. Image hosted by Photobucket.com Ask her about waterpoint, keep pointing the finger at cyberkinetic...poor guy, kena bully by RSM. Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I did farlek along the run to go way infront to take pictures of everyone here and there. It was okay lah...the pace is slow and everybody is having a good time. We reach Ford Road junction and make a U-turn back. I didnt have a watch so i ask Dreamrunner what is the time covered so far. His feedback is 23mins, which is around 3-4km. Along the way back, we saw renohtaram, balasing and so other runners running towards our way. They are late, so they are playing catch up.

We bypass the start point again. The rest of the folks proceed to Bedok jetty, whereas myself decided to called it a day. Although it is 7-8km run, i dont want to push it and risk getting injury even though i am feeling ok. Cyberkinetic, Swee kheng & a few more runners have arrived lated. They proceed to follow the front group to do the run. Mythos & Mrs, Bug, Fatty and FD are in the start point waiting and relaxing. I show Mythos my new RaceReady shorts and he and FD take turns to take photos of my buttock Image hosted by Photobucket.com ...damn it...like that how to face others? Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I went to bath, cost me 50cents to use the shower facilities, and change to fresh set of clothing. The weather change and wind starts to blow stronger. I quicker went back to the car, pheck leng have already packed up and waiting there. I leave our stuffs inside, bring along umbrella and went to Macdonald for a breakfast. We take our sweet time, enjoy our meals. After that we bid farewell to the rest of the sgrunners and leave earlier.
