Post Mt Kinabalu thoughts
The objective for this trip is to get familiar with the terrain and experience what are challenge ahead and how much will we fair on the actual race day.
With that in mind, i would say we have very much achieve what we set out for.
This is a recee cum training trip. We have complete the training without any major issue and keep it a very simple training exercises.
For how we fare? Some of us did okay, others(like myself) will have a hard time struggle to meet the cutoff timing for the race. A big DNF(did not finish) question mark hangs highly on top of my head.
My category is Men Open which have a cutoff time of 2.5hrs to the summit and additional 2hrs to the finishing line(4km after Timpohon gate). Based on my 2nd day timing, i reach Summit in 3:47hrs and reached the finishing line around 6:57hrs. A whoopping ultra DNF participator!!!
I have a good trip. I trip, stumble, hurt my buttock, sprain my ankles, "thrash" my thighs, calves etc. I learn alot about moutain running and get to know myself better. To be successful in such event, you need to have a good cardio background. Have the speed to do things fast, good coach(to do the right trainings) and a devil say die attitude to walk between at times the fine route between death and finish line.
I do what i can and hopefully pride is intact at the end of the event.
