Circuit Swimming

Decided to take a plunge down the pool this morning to keep the body well oiled for the event tomorrow. There is a indoor swimming pool in YMCA – which is one of the reason to choose YMCA instead of other lodgings. It has a 25meters pool and a few smaller pools. There are a few lanes segregated for various swimmers. I decide to go for the fast lane whereby there are less swimmer and the pace seems decent(not too slow).

The culture in the pool is to swim clockwise. Is not that I have not did clockwise swimming laps before, but the discipline to keep doing that laps after laps within 1 LANE wide is something new. You feel confined with another swimmer on the opposite half of the lane. Making thing worst, someone is swimming behind chasing you, while in turn you start to chase the swimmer in front.

I expect a swim on my own pace, but somehow I am being drag into the rat(swim) race(circuit). I was grasping for air with little rest time before heading out of the walls and continue the swim. I did of mixture of front crawl and froggie on the 30mins swim. There are a couple of very good swimmers there and you feel stress with them breathing(swimming) behind you, waiting for overtaking!

I didn’t quite enjoy the swim, nevertheless if give me a good and short workout. I guess this swim show the character of a typical HK people. Ai pai cha ai Ya!
