Day 8 - Hakuba 23 Feb 2008
Hakuba - Day 3
Head for another winter run this morning with Ronnie. We head the other direction and recee the route to the train station. It was cold outside. We ran, take pictures along the way. It took me 18 mins to reach Macdonald(near Hakuba train station). There is a shopping mall(which was closed), Macdonad was closed as well. Sigh…wanna buy some food for lunch from Mac, but couldn’t.
We reach hotel, just nice for breakfast. After a full day, abit “tired” of the food already. I am not complaining though, we need the food and energy for our ski later.
We head out to get our ski rental equipments and took a long tiring walk with our equipments to the ski school. It is about 1km away.
We booked a private lesson for 2hours with a English Speaking 22 years old mei mei Japanese for 6 of us. We learnt the basic skill on using the equipments, walking, stopping etc. It is fun seeing each other falling all over the place in different postures. I have a hard time learning the new skill. It was fun nonetheless.
After lunch we head up the mountain. I have wanted to polish the skill sets on the bottom of the hill first before getting up. Alas others have different idea. Up, we go on a grandola up to ¾ of the mountain. It was scarily to say the least. Have wanted to ski down, but looking at the slopes and my lack of confidence in breaking, I decide it is not worth the risk and took the grandola down. Ronnie and Joanna decided to ski down though.
At the bottom of the hill, we try to learn how to ski with the knowledge learned in the morning. We have a hard time practicing, as the ice is melting and it is wet and slippery. We didn’t go far.
We took ski lift went to the top, experience the view from the top down and walk down. So comical, 4 persons walking down the slope, whereas other zoom down. What to do when the ski lift is only one way up! No down is encouraged.
Seems like ages later when we meet up again with everyone. It was a fun day, legs a bit ache after the ski. “p
Pack up the bags as we need to leave early tomorrow.
Pictures here.
