NUS Foray
Less than an hour after the run on Saturday, i am feeling the sng on the calves while i am back in office. I was walking and standing around in office and can feel the ache as though i had just complete a marathon. I couldn't understand why i feeling this way. It shouldn't be.
This weekend is the tapering time in preparation for next week MR Ultra. I am not really tapering, but i just need to reduce the distance abit in preparation for next week distance.
I reached SP stadium at 6:30am amid some light rain drops. The end of the rain is in sight. We started the run closer to 7am with a fair group of runners - 10 of us. :)
I was going at a decent pace for the run until Kent Ridge, HR was at 150+ most of the time while running, i hit 176 after vigilante. I think that broke the threshold. I couldn't remember when is the last time i hit such HR while working out in normal healthy condition. I struggle from there onwards.
Despite taking a long break and a water/toilet break, pace drop significantly from there onwards as i try to maintain a comfortable pace/effort till the end. Fortunately the distance is short (15.9km) and i don't have to suffer so much. I guess the effort takes alot from me.
On one hand, in order to improve i have to get back to such kind of effort in training. On the other, i ought to be careful whenever this kind of effort is required. It is a catch 22 kind of situation. Running with a "disability" is bad for confidence.
I am glad i manage to pull this off in around 2:13hr.
Maybe like someone mention in the BBQ(in the evening)...i am shortening my life....
